MEDICAL RESEARCH BUILDING II
UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK
This is the second phase of what is eventually envisioned as a three-building research “court” for the University of Rochester’s Medical Center, this 125,000 sq. ft., $25,000,000 extension includes research laboratories for the Departments of Surgery, Medicine, and Pediatrics at the Medical Center. Included in the laboratory space are both histology and pathology labs.
A modular planning approach is featured creating repetitive generic laboratory space incorporated into a repetitive generic floor plan in an effort to encourage the flow of ideas and communication between researchers.
Completed in 2001, DeWolff’s role included project approval submissions, environmental impact statements, schematic design, design development, and construction documents as part of the University Partners Group (UP Group), the project’s architect of record. The UP Group was a subsidiary of DeWolff Partnership Architects.
