UPSTATE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY AT MALONE, NEW YORK
A 1500 Bed Maximum Security Facility designed for 23 hour lockdown of inmates in Administrative Segregation and Disciplinary Inmates (SHU-Special Housing Units). The facility features 5 housing buildings, each with 250 precast concrete double-bunked cells. Every cell includes a shower, and each has an individual recreation pen connected by a back door to the cell. The campus includes an Administration Building and 7 other support buildings providing all services and programs within the secure perimeter fence, linked by a connecting corridor system to control and monitor occupant movement, and with the ability to isolate all buildings. A central heating plant, generator plant, water tower and other utility support buildings are located outside the perimeter fence. The project was designed and constructed on a fast-track schedule in close cooperation with the New York State Office of General Services Design and Construction Group.
